Sweet & Sour Mango Chutney


This Sweet and Sour Mango Chutney is a quick and simple recipe using raw mangoes. It is packed with flavors from spices and makes a great side dish with parathas for breakfast.This special recipe is brought to you by Chef Mohana Gill

1 kg peeled and grated raw mangoes

1 kg sugar

2 tsp salt

2 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp garam masala

2 tbsp proasted cumin powder

pinch of asafetida

2-3 nos green cardamom seeds (crushed)

2 tbsp sulatanas

2 tbsp sliced almonds


1. Place the grated mangoes in bowl

2. Add the sugar, salt, chilli powder, garam masala and cumin powder

3.Combine everything thoroughly and cover it with a lid and let it sit overnight at room temperature

4. Pour the pureed sauce mixture into the hot pan

5. Next day put the mango mixture in a wok on low heat. Add the crushed cardamom and asafetida

6. Stir until it thickens and attains single string consistency. Add sultanas and almonds

7. Let it cool and transfer it to a glass container.

8. Allow simmering on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, until the guavas are tender but still firm. Store in fridge.

Remains good for months
