Le Méridien Putrajaya Celebrates 10 Years of Hospitality, Art and Culinary Discovery

Le Méridien Putrajaya has marked its tenth anniversary with a celebration recognising the people, partnerships and creative experiences that have shaped the hotel since it opened.

The “10 Years of Excellence” Anniversary Soirée brought together representatives from the hospitality and tourism industries, government agencies, Marriott International, IOI Properties Group and the hotel’s long-serving associates.

Among the guests were Chua Choon Hwa, Deputy Secretary-General for Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Dato’ Lee Yeow Seng, Group Chief Executive Officer of IOI Properties Group, and Datin Yeo Bee Yin.

The occasion gave the hotel an opportunity to reflect on its first decade while presenting its vision for hospitality, dining and travel experiences in Putrajaya.

From a city hotel to an integrated destination

Since opening, Le Méridien Putrajaya has developed beyond its role as an upscale accommodation provider.

Its direct connection to IOI City Mall allows hotel guests to combine accommodation, dining, shopping and entertainment within one integrated destination. The location also provides access to Putrajaya and places travellers approximately 30 minutes from Sepang.

Over the years, the hotel has hosted business gatherings, weddings, family celebrations and leisure stays. These different uses have helped it become part of the broader hospitality landscape surrounding Malaysia’s administrative capital.

The hotel’s progress was recently recognised when it received the Best Lifestyle Hotel Experience award at the Tourism Industry Awards 2026. Le Mei, its signature Chinese restaurant, also received recognition in the Best Specialty Cuisine Restaurants category at the HAPA Awards 2026 Series 2.

These accolades highlight the growing importance of lifestyle and culinary experiences within the modern hotel industry. Travellers increasingly expect hotels to offer more than rooms. Dining, art, local identity and memorable social spaces now play an important role in shaping a complete stay.

The people behind the milestone

A central part of the anniversary celebration was the recognition of 14 associates who have worked at Le Méridien Putrajaya since its opening.

Their decade of service represents an important form of continuity in an industry built around human interaction. While hotel facilities and guest preferences may evolve, experienced associates preserve valuable knowledge about service, operations and the expectations of returning guests.

The long-serving team members joined distinguished guests and the hotel’s chefs for the ceremonial cutting of a ten-tier anniversary cake.

Sonal Malik, General Manager of Le Méridien Putrajaya, said the hotel has welcomed guests for many kinds of occasions during the past ten years, from dining and holidays to meaningful celebrations.

Looking towards its next chapter, the hotel intends to continue improving its hospitality offering while contributing to Putrajaya’s appeal as a travel destination.

Art creates a connection with Putrajaya

Art and design were also prominent during the soirée.

The celebration featured an artwork of the hotel by Malaysian artist Nor Asyikin Abdullah, who is known as Lakar by Mekar. A live painting performance by Syamsul Addenno of OnWall Enterprise interpreted Le Méridien Putrajaya and the surrounding city on canvas.

The artworks created a visual connection between the property and the destination it has called home for the past decade.

This approach reflects a broader opportunity for hotels to collaborate with local artists and cultural practitioners. Such partnerships can give visitors a stronger sense of place while introducing creative work to new audiences.

For hospitality brands, local art can also prevent a property from feeling disconnected from its surroundings. A hotel becomes more memorable when its design, programmes and guest experiences acknowledge the city and community around it.

Culinary experiences remain part of the story

Food and beverage experiences continue to play a significant role in the hotel’s tenth-anniversary programme.

The hotel has introduced a limited-time collection called The Art of 10, bringing together anniversary menus and dining experiences across Le Mei, Latest Recipe and Latitude 02.

The collection includes a ten-course degustation experience, signature dim sum, an anniversary grand buffet, cocktails, éclairs and afternoon tea.

A Decade of Moments accommodation package has also been developed, combining a hotel stay with breakfast for two, anniversary afternoon tea and commemorative touches.

The variety of offerings reflects how hotel dining has become an attraction in its own right. Restaurants, buffets, lounges and afternoon tea experiences can draw local diners even when they are not staying overnight.

For iCookAsia readers, the anniversary also offers an example of how hospitality properties can use food to turn a corporate milestone into something guests can experience personally.

Beginning a new decade

Le Méridien Putrajaya enters its second decade at a time when travellers are seeking convenience, meaningful experiences and a stronger connection to their destination.

Its anniversary celebration brought these ideas together through hospitality, employee recognition, local art and food.

The occasion was not only a look back at the hotel’s first ten years. It also presented a possible direction for its future, with dining, creativity and a sense of place continuing to shape the guest experience.
